    Heal Yourself with Herbs, an introduction to Herbal medicine.

    Herbs and plants are a great gift from the earth with many uses for self-healing and illness prevention; their medicinal purposes have been valued for centuries. In this class participants will learn about Piebird's favoured herbs, plants and flowers while taking a stroll through the gardens on a "herb walk" -- an informative and hands-on way to learn to identify some of these incredibly varied and useful plants. Learn how to turn herbs into infusions, salves and tinctures and how to use them in woman's health and general health, for first aid, cold prevention and much more! We will talk about harvesting and storing as well. For the early spring classes, come see what gifts Spring gives us for cleansing ourselves after winter!

  • Vegan Baking -- Baking without dairy or eggs

    Animal free baking

     Learn how to make beautiful and yummy baked goods for you or for your loved one who requires a dairy free/egg free diet. Participants will learn about alternative binders and leaveners, different flour combinations for a lighter consistency, try out a few recipes and sample some fresh baked goods. Bring a container for your take home samples.

    Peaches and peach chutney -- the glorious golden scrumptiousness on your pantry shelves can be enough to get you through a cold, dark wintery day. By learning how to preserve them yourself, you are freeing yourself of wondering what is in your food-- you know because you put it there! Control the sugar, the salt and the packaging; learn how to bottle up summer's goodness while it is at it's peak. The method for learning to preserve peaches this way is transferable to other fruit too like pears and apples.
